MARILÚ MASTROGIOVANNI 

Investigative Journalist • Southern Italy

Marilù Mastrogiovanni, PhD, is the founder of the Forum of Mediterranean Women Journalists (now at its X edition), and the director of the investigative newspaper “Il Tacco d’Italia”. She has authored a long series of investigative reports on the mafias in Southern Italy, receiving recognition nationwide. She was President of the UNESCO Guillermo Cano Freedom of the Press Prize, and she has been recently nominated European Climate Pact Ambassador by the EU for her work on the connection between climate injustice and the South. Her academic research focuses on ecofeminism, the Jineoloji in Rojava, and media education. She teaches Journalism at the University of Bari, Italy.
